Recently we were delighted to catch up with a founder of our organization, Robert Sadée and his wife, Jennifer.

Robert has long been a believer in the importance of trails in both communities and through nature. After chairing the Trails Subcommittee for the Area Structure Plan in 2002-03, Robert and a small group of keen Bragg Creek residents banded together to form The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association (GBCTA) in 2004. Robert became the association’s first President and Jennifer its first Treasurer. The first trails were built in the Bragg Creek community:

* the Centennial Trail from the Hamlet to Bragg Creek Provincial Park
* the Banded Peak Trail and the Banded Peak Connector, both connecting to the School
* the Redwood trail to our sister community Redwood Meadows

For many years, Robert and a group of trails enthusiasts had also been maintaining trails in West Bragg Creek Kananaskis and grooming for cross country skiing. In 2007, the GBCTA combined with the Kananaskis group to form a larger network of trails that eventually incorporated Community trails, the Trans Canada Trail and WBC trails in Kananaskis Country. Robert was instrumental in bringing the Trans Canada Trail to Bragg Creek.

Read Robert’s historical recap of the organization’s early years here.

In 2015 Robert passed the President’s baton but remained active, fund raising for Bragg Creek Trails until he and Jennifer moved to Victoria BC.

We are so grateful for their visionary contributions to Bragg Creek Trails. Rob and Jen, enjoy your new hats!
