In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, Bragg Creek Trails (BCT) would like to honour and acknowledge that the West Bragg Creek trails are located on traditional Treaty 7 Territory, sacred ancestral lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Wesley, Stoney-Nakoda & Tsuut’ina Nations & Region 3 of the Métis Nations of Alberta. As current land and trail stewards, our organization is grateful for the keepers of the land who came before us.
On this day, BCT acknowledges and honours the many children who were forcibly taken from their parents and placed in residential schools – children whose lives were lost or changed forever. More than 150,000 children attended these schools between 1883 and 1997.
Please make time to listen, learn and reflect, talk with your friends, family and colleagues.
