The BCTA has many good stories to tell. The history of how West Bragg Creek came to have a Trails Centre is one of them.

In 2015 a member of the BCTA executive was approached by a representative from an oil service company who offered to donate a used Rig Manager’s well site hut for possible use as a WBC Trails Centre. After negotiations with Alberta Parks, the offer was accepted and work began to renovate the well-used structure.

Volunteers gutted the interior, walls were painted and a new floor installed . The exterior got some primer, paint, trim and a deck. When it was all finished a very big truck arrived and transported the renovated Centre to it’s new home.

Since then this humble structure has served to warm the chilled bones of many skiers, snowshoers, bikers and those out for a walk. It is also used as a meeting place for the BCTA and our local XC Bragg Creek ski and bike club.

Someday we hope to replace the current Trails Centre with a larger, more luxurious facility to serve the growing needs of WBC trails users. Until then, enjoy the space and stay toasty warm! It’s open 9-5 daily.
