It has now been well over a month since the last snowflake fell at West Bragg Creek. Alternating warm Chinooks and colder periods have melted, recrystallized or evaporated the snow, so trail conditions generally look more like late October than late December.  Single track trails range from very hard packed snow or ice in sheltered areas, to dry dirt, especially on ridge tops and sun exposed slopes.  Conditions are good for fat biking, hiking or trail running, as long as you have studded tires or traction devices.   With no soft snow around, conditions are not good for snowshoeing.   The ski trails were last roller packed about a month ago and have seen many melt-freeze cycles, so trails are icy with bare spots.  XC skiing is not recommended until there is a good snowfall.

The 2 week weather forecast is showing below zero temperatures, but virtually no new snow, so conditions will remain as they are, into the new year.
