We have a Noxious Weed Pull Trail Day (Orange Hawkweed) with the Elbow River Watershed Partnership coming up on Friday, August 27, 2021. This is not the usual heavy work for trail building, so this will appeal to those volunteers wanting a lighter working volunteering day. Volunteers will:
- work outside
- Bike or walk over uneven terrain (off trail) to the worksite, and
- carry and work with hand tools
During a Range Health Inventory of the area, the presence of Orange Hawkweed was discovered- Orange Hawkweed are prohibited noxious weeds. Under the Weed Control Act, prohibited noxious weeds must be destroyed. BCT is partnering with ERWP to aim to help remove these species.
Noxious weeds are plants that are injurious to agricultural or horticultural crops, natural habitats or ecosystems, or humans or livestock.(Wikipedia)
If you would like to sign up or have questions, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Pam.
