Love it or hate it, the KCP has had a positive impact on trails' stewardship in West Bragg Creek. In 2022, we received our first KCP grant of $250,000. This year, BCT has entered into a multi-year commitment with the Alberta government, with a promise of $300,000 annually for 3 consecutive years. While this does not meet the minimum funds necessary for our yearly operating costs, it has brought a new level of financial certainty to the organization. With the anticipated funds, BCT has hired key staff to augment the committed volunteers that have fostered the trail network to the level we all enjoy today. Solely as an operating grant, there are restrictions to its implementation. As such. BCT will still need your funding help for special projects in the hopper. Special projects include environmental stewardship, equipment acquisition (some of those old relics are due for retirement! and events. BCT is committed to protecting our beloved trails, and the natural environment they run through, and will continue to strive for a sustainable funding model of trail stewardship.
