The Greater Bragg Creek Trails Association happily announces the opening of a trails centre located on the north side of the West Bragg parking lot. The new trails centre will serve as a gathering point and as a warming hut for the many users who access the West Bragg trails.
With the Trails Centre, the WBC trail network now meets all the parameters for clubs that like to plan trips to trail areas that have good parking (including for a bus), toilet facilities, a warm-up shelter, and trails for different activities such as XC skiing and snowshoeing at a variety of skill/endurance levels.
The Trails Centre operates entirely on donations, therefore a club donation for the use of the facility would be appreciated. Note that it is intended for short-term use; no personal items should be stored in the Trails Centre, or left behind.
The GBCTA is working on plans to have the centre open on winter weekends so it is accessible to all. If we get enough notice and volunteer help, we may be able to open the Trails Centre when a club has a scheduled trip to WBC.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with its operations – people who can unlock the trails centre in the morning and return to re-lock it in the late afternoon. We also are seeking trail host volunteers who can meet and greet visitors to West Bragg who have questions about trail use.
This is your opportunity to give back to the West Bragg outdoors community and to join the many volunteers who make the trails we all love to use. Winter and summer, nearly all of the trails work is done by volunteers.
