It was not quite a month ago that ‘Erica’ our beloved Snow Cat suffered a premature failure of the hydraulic pump that drives its power tiller. In the meantime, BCT ski groomers have been laying tracks the way we had done for years – with ‘Ginzu’ groomers pulled by our sleds or Japanese Kei trucks. That hasn’t been easy on this stand-in equipment which has in turn suffered further mechanical failures that we are dealing with.
The great news is Erica is now back and in good health. Big, big thanks to local Bragg Creek mechanic extraordinaire Zach Coxwell for steering the tear down and re-installation efforts, Josh from Flodraulics for all the help sourcing a new pump, and BCT staff Russ and Seth for all their overtime work. Finally, thanks to all the donors who chipped in to help us purchase a new Bondioli hydraulic pump (ouch, they aren’t cheap). If you have a chance, try out those beauty Rabbit Tracks!
