Trailblazing Together: Fundraising for Trails 2025

We don’t rest on our laurels at BCT; we always are working on something new and innovative. Currently, it’s an update and expansion of our trails system. Yes, our 166 kms trails system is gaining another 18 kms as we move into the next phase of our growth.

The new Trails Plan is the first major update to the BCT trails system since 2010. To bring the plan to fruition, BCT is committed to involving individual activity users, Indigenous peoples, stakeholder organizations and the local community. The new Trails Plan will underpin the future planning and design of trails in West Bragg Creek and will provide the framework to help BCT and Alberta Forestry and Parks manage competing uses while protecting valuable natural ecosystems.

The level of trail use in the area has grown significantly over the years, and the diversity of users and activities likewise has grown. New trail management issues have arisen as a result of the expanded opportunities and high volume of users. The Trails Plan will help to improve the visitor experience and safety, while minimizing environmental impact through maintenance, education, signage and environmental stewardship projects.
